Unreinforced masonry buildings are beautiful but are not lasting in earthquake country. Restoring this historic building in downtown Redwood City included a complete seismic rehabilitation. Dreaming of a restaurant or nightclub user, a large roof terrace is the feature of the building created because the city’s historic review dictated that the second floor addition be pushed back forty feet from the front historic facade.
